For us it is not just about having a beautiful venue. It is about the people who walk through our doors, the celebrations that happen here, and the memories made along the way.

Usambara has been part of weddings, Matric Farewells, private celebrations and corporate events for many years. In that time we have seen every kind of celebration: big weddings, intimate weddings, traditional weddings, modern weddings, milestone birthdays, year-end functions and everything in between. Every event is different, and that is exactly how we like it.

Usambara sits in the Muldersdrift and Krugersdorp area, just off the N14, surrounded by gardens, trees and open space.

We specialise in weddings and Matric Farewells, and we also host private functions, milestone celebrations, corporate functions, conferences and other special occasions.

With three chapels and a choice of reception venues, there are different options depending on the type of event you are planning and the number of guests you are expecting.

But choosing a venue is about more than how it looks. You want to know what is included, what your options are, what the costs will be and whether the venue will actually work for your event. That is why our rates are published for 2026, 2027 and 2028, and why we encourage you to come and have a look for yourself.

Every event is different

There is no single formula for planning an event. Some people know exactly what they want from the beginning. Others arrive with a date, a guest list and a general idea, and work everything else out as they go. Both are completely fine.

Our job is to help you understand what is possible at Usambara and guide you through the process, from your first enquiry and viewing through to your event. We will explain the options, answer your questions and make sure you understand what you are booking.

We have become a popular choice for Matric Farewells, where the venue, setting and space can be transformed to create a memorable evening for the learners.

Birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations of life, corporate functions and year-end events for up to 500 guests, with conference facilities for up to 200 delegates.

If you are travelling from further away, or simply want the convenience of staying close to your event, Usambara Lodge is situated right here on the property.

The lodge offers 20 standard rooms, 2 bridal suites and 1 executive suite, which makes it a convenient option for wedding guests, families, corporate groups and anyone attending a function at Usambara.

Usambara Lodge is independently managed, and all accommodation enquiries and bookings are handled directly by the lodge.

A venue can have beautiful gardens, great spaces and all the facilities you need, but the people you deal with make a big difference too.

From your first enquiry you will be dealing with a team that knows the venue and understands what goes into planning an event. Planning a wedding or function can sometimes feel overwhelming. There are dates to choose, guest numbers to work out, suppliers to organise and a long list of decisions to make. Our aim is to make the venue side of that process as straightforward as possible.

No unnecessary complications. No guessing what happens next. Just honest answers, clear information and help when you need it.

You can look at photographs, browse our website and read about our different venues, but there is only so much you can get from a screen. When you visit Usambara you can see the gardens, walk through the chapels, look at the reception spaces and start to imagine your own celebration here. And sometimes, that is when you know. Not because someone told you that Usambara is the perfect venue, but because you can see yourself celebrating here.

Finding Usambara

Usambara is at 16 Steyn Road, just off the N14 between Krugersdorp and Muldersdrift, in Mogale City, Gauteng.

The property sits on the edge of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, roughly 9 km from the Sterkfontein Caves and about 30 km west of Johannesburg. Lanseria is the closest airport. Krugersdorp, Muldersdrift, Ruimsig, Roodepoort, Honeydew, Randburg and Randfontein are all a straightforward drive on the N14.

How far is Usambara from Johannesburg and the Cradle of Humankind?
